How I Earn Money From Blogging

Hello Grasshoppa,

It’s been 3 years since I started my BBM blog. When I started my blog, my goal is simple which is to share my experience with all of you on my personal finance & investment journey. I have also made some sharing on my personal life experiences & my businesses. It is all written from various locations over the weekends to ensure that I am able to deliver quality content for you each week even though sometimes I struggle to think of a topic to write to all of you.

Earning money from blogging is definitely not my main goal in creating this blog but to maintain this blog, I have to pay for my domain & also hosting fees. It is definitely not cheap but having all of you reading & learning something definitely drive & motivate me to be consistent in my writing. Over the past 3 years, I have been approached by various companies on collaborations or sponsored posts but I made it very clear that I will only collaborate on those products or investments that I actually believe in or has invested in. If you are regular readers of BBM, you will only notice a few investments or companies that I highly recommend not because I am paid to recommend them but I personally have the experience of investing with them. If I do not believe in their product, I will usually reject their offer despite their willingness to pay for the sponsored post.

Having said that, how do I actually earn money from BBM blog?

1. Referrals
I have a special section in my blog called Support BBM where I have included all my promo codes that you can use if you are planning to invest or purchase a book. I have no intention to change BBM blog to a subscription model where I am charging my readers a certain amount to have access to my articles & to fund my blog. You can just use any of my promo codes if you intend to invest in any of my recommended investment product. I have personally used or invested in all the platforms that I recommend.

2. Google Ads
Prior to moving my hosting from WordPress.com to Hostgator, I was using WordPress Ads platform called WordAds. To be honest, first 3 months revenue was good but soon it dropped to less than USD5 per month. After moving to a new hosting, I am able to link Google Ads to BBM Blog & that is when I started to see a sustainable revenue that I am able to use to cover the blog cost & also a cup of iced latte that I am having sometimes while writing my weekly post to all of you.

3. Sponsored Post
From time to time, I am approached by investment companies to be featured in BBM. In my earlier sponsored posts, those are all the companies that I actually personally approached & invested in. Those are the companies that I have included in my Support BBM section. Aside from that, I have also rejected some other companies who wanted to be featured by BBM as I personally do not invest in their products. My criteria on the collaboration is simple, I have to be investing or using their product before I write an article about them. This is part of minimum criteria & over the past 1 year, I have not agreed to write any sponsored post as I am not investing with any of them.

Conclusion :

BBM started as a blog with an average of 10 readers per day to a blog with over 5000-10,000 readers a month. It is all because of you as my reader where you are reading it consistently each week. I hope all of you learn something from it & your support really means a lot to me. Not only has it helped me to be a better writer, but it also motivates me to be consistent each week. You as my readers have also helped me to earn money via ads & the referral fees that I have linked in some of my posts. I hope you guys can continue your support by reading my post each week & share it with your friends & family if it is beneficial to them.
