How Is My 5 Years Journey As A Personal Finance & Investment Blogger?

Hello Grasshoppa,

BBM is celebrating its 5th year anniversary in February 2023, which also marks a significant journey of me sharing my personal finance experience, investment, business & my retirement plan with all of you. This journey has been a learning curve for me & this blog is a way for me to encapsulate what I have learned & it is a platform that I am using to share it with you guys. Over the years, I have written over 250 posts on my views, tips & other topics which are mainly towards personal finance & investments. There are multiple times when I am having issues where I have no topic to write about or I am struggling to write even when I have topics. Despite all that, my goal is to make sure that I publish my article every Sunday at 10 am.

When I have a year-over-year comparison of my reader from 2021 to 2022, I have seen some growth in the number of readers so far. Despite the lack of engagement between my readers & myself, I have been trying to engage them on multiple platforms so far, but the engagement level is still not up to my expectations. By looking at the number of users & page views of BBM, it is the reason why I am motivated to write each week without fail.

Income from the blog is definitely enough to cover the cost of maintaining this blog which mainly comes from collaboration, referrals & ads. Since I am very picky about collaborating with other investment platforms, I have been rejecting more platforms often as some are not under the approved list by the Securities Commission of Malaysia or it can also be because I do not believe in their platforms. In order for me to share more about them, it has to be approved by the SC of Malaysia or it is a platform that I personally use. To say that I am able to earn a living from being a blogger, I don’t make enough to be a full-time blogger but it is enough for me to maintain this site & earn slightly more to invest for my future retirement. Each blogger has their ways of earning & it is different for each blogger. To fully rely on ads to earn, can be really challenging.

This blog is all about my views, ideas, observations, journals, or a way of me expressing myself by writing it each week. From the time I wrote my first post to my current post, my writing, knowledge, life skill & other skills have matured as well. This is why this blog is here to stay as long as I can able to write it to ensure that I am able to share with you my developed views as it matures over the years. It is also a journal for me to share my financial goals & progress toward my planned retirement.

If you are a young blogger or plan to be a blogger, the most important key is for you to stay consistent. Many personal finance & investment bloggers in Malaysia have stopped posting or writing after they launched the blog. It is definitely not easy especially since you have to allocate 1-2 hours each week to write, edit & post. You might also face issues of not having topics to write about. This is a common issue that you will be having from time to time but if you are motivated & inspired, you will find your way.
