Should You Open An Account with AEON Bank?

Hello Grasshoppa,

Today marks the official launch of AEON Bank’s digital banking services, making them the first Shariah-compliant and Islamic digital bank in Malaysia. Building on my positive experience with GXBank, I am eager to explore and understand more about AEON Bank’s products and services.

Here are a few compelling reasons to consider opening an account with AEON Bank:

1. Shariah-Compliant
If you are looking at Islamic or Shariah-compliant digital bank, they are the first & only choice that is available on the market at this moment.

2. AEON Points Program
If you are a frequent AEON shopper, this card will be beneficial for you especially when it comes to point collection where you can redeem the points for cash.

3. Annual Profit RateĀ
As part of their launching promo, they are offering up to 3.88% interest per annum. There are no details yet on what will be the profit rate after 31st August 2024 but during this time, you can enjoy the interest until their next update.

4. Budgeting Tools
Their budgeting tools are similar to those available in independent budgeting apps. If you haven’t used a budgeting app before, their tools may be helpful for tracking all your expenses.

5. Personalised Account Number
Upon registering for the account, they will provide you with an option to personalize the last 4 digits of your account number (subject to availability).

Conclusion:

I have also tried to study the details provided on AEON Bank’s website, but it seems that there is not much information available, especially regarding the annual profit rate after the promotional period. Personally, I have registered for an account to try it out, particularly because it is linked to the AEON Points Program. Although I regularly shop for groceries at AEON, I had never registered for their AEON Points Program due to laziness. With the registration of my AEON Bank account, I am automatically enrolled in the AEON Points Program as well.

Compared to GXBank, AEON Bank’s features seem less attractive at the moment, but who knows what the future may hold. They might have something planned to propose more attractive features for their account holders. For now, I will primarily use this card for my shopping at AEON. I look forward to seeing more features from AEON Bank in the future.
