Websites & Apps That Can Help You Save Money

Hello Grasshoppa,

Since the pandemic started, many of us have transitioned to online shopping for convenience. During this period, some of us tend to spend more especially when there is so much attractive stuff out there. Most probably you will see stuff that you never need or use anymore lying down somewhere in your house or store. Being guilty myself, I did buy some stuff that I used maybe once or twice & I never used it again.

Over the past few years, I have written multiple articles where I mentioned how I am able to save money from a few websites or apps by searching for discount codes online or buying them during the online sale. Compared to what I am able to purchase at physical stores, I definitely am able to save more by purchasing it online. Even for some brands like Adidas, I am surprised that I am able to save so much more by purchasing it online thanks to their sales. Aside from shopping, I am also able to enjoy some savings by eating in rather than dining out. Thanks to a few Malaysian food delivery companies where they usually have promotions from time to time for consumers like us to enjoy.

Today, I will be listing down some of the websites or apps that I am using where I am able to get special deals and attractive promos.

GrabFood / Foodpanda
Watch out for their ongoing deals where you are able to get discounts on your meals. Personally, I prefer GrabFood over Foodpanda due to their slightly lower delivery fee. Other factors include GrabPay feature where I am able to earn points that I can use in the form of discounts or other rewards & also their recent GrabUnlimited promo where I can get a discount on the delivery fee & the food price. As an example, for the same food that I am dining in Nandos vs my order in Grab, I get to save at least RM15-RM20.

Shopee / Lazada
I am a heavy user of Shopee where I have gotten many items including my household stuff there. Since I started to move into my new house, I have lots of items where I need to buy such as electrical appliances & others. Surprisingly, I found similar electrical appliances from Shopee which is way cheaper compared to the physical stores. Even my electrical toothbrush which I saw at Watson that cost around RM180 & I am able to buy from the official store for RM120 during the sale period. The tip is, you have to be patient & keep surveying it. You will definitely find a good deal, especially there is a sale every single month. By using ShopeePay, you will also be able to get a rebate from your purchase or you are able to get cashback when you are making a payment with their merchant.

Adidas / Nike / Zalora
My regular website where I do my clothes purchase is usually Zalora followed by Adidas. To get good deals from those apps or websites, you have to always survey & wait for a good deal. It comes really often. For the same Nike t-shirt that I saw on regular store vs the deals I’ve gotten from Zalora, I save almost RM50 for that t-shirt. Not to mention that I am able to purchase an Adidas NMD for around RM250 during their 40% sitewide sales where I still see physical stores selling it for RM450 for that same model.

Fave
I used to use it a lot when I am able to get cashback from my meal. Since the FMCO & not many restaurants using them anymore, I hardly use them now. But there is quite a number of deals where you are able to find it there.

ShopBack
I was first introduced by ShopBack when I was reading Ringgit Oh Ringgit article many years ago. I am guilty to say that I have never used it before even though I keep reminding myself to use it for so many years to obtain some savings. LOL. I just registered myself on their website & they have a plugin where they will automatically detect on their affiliated websites. Aside from that, I realized they have so many coupons that I am able to use at their affiliate websites.

Raiz
Raiz also has a similar function as ShopBack called Raiz Rewards. The perk is, that cashback from your purchase will be invested in your Raiz account. This is my third time declaring myself guilty on this post. I keep reminding myself to log in via Raiz app to make my purchase but I keep forgetting about it. Not sure I am too excited each time I want to buy something that I forgot that I can earn cashback for those apps or websites. I will make a point to try it in my next purchase & I will share more with you on this soon.

Conclusion:

Some of us will always find ways to save money from our purchases by doing extensive research. It is meant to save money but you should also remember to not do any excessive shopping. Shopping can be an addiction especially when it comes to online shopping where you can see all the items you want in an app or website. People tend to get excited when they start shopping & sometimes it can get out of control that can affect your financial. With Raiz Rewards where it can offer you cashback & simultaneously invest your money, you can definitely give it a go where you can shop & invest at the same time. But as I mentioned earlier, do not be overly excited about your shopping which can lead you into a bad financial situation.
