Investment Portfolio Suggestions That You Can Build Within Your Budget

Hello Grasshoppa,

There is a common question that many of my readers, family & friends have asked me on the suggested investment portfolio that I will recommend for them. My recommendation is always based on the investment that I personally invest in or believe in. Over the years, one of my highly recommended investment platforms is StashAway & I have written many posts to share my experience investing with them. There are also many other investment platforms that I recommend such as StashAway, Fundaztic, Funding Societies, HelloGold, Raiz & others.

Usually, when they ask for my recommendation, I will ask them about their monthly budget before I recommend a suitable investment platform for them. Over the years, the feedback I get about their budget is between RM50 up to RM1,000. To be honest, a RM50 investment is better than zero investment as a start. I am always motivated & excited whenever my family, friends & readers show their interest in investing. The constant questions have led me to build a suggested investment portfolio that you can refer to based on your monthly budget.

Disclaimer: This suggestion is purely based on my opinion & each investment will be at your own risk. There are many variables & choices when it comes to investing in each platform. My recommendation will be purely based on my personal experience on each platform.

RM100
StashAway: RM50
Raiz: RM50
The simple way to justify why RM50 each is on their differentiation on where they invest. StashAway is mainly investing in a diversified portfolio depending on your risk selection but usually, it focuses more on the USA market. Whereas Raiz main investment is targeting the Malaysian market.

RM200
StashAway: RM100
HelloGold: RM50
Raiz: RM50
With the extra budget, you can add on commodities as part of your investment portfolio too.

RM300
Private Retirement Scheme (PRS): RM250
StashAway: RM50
Why do I recommend PRS when you have an RM300 budget? PRS is commonly overlooked as an alternative investment but do you know that there are over 50 funds that you can choose from? You can also claim your income tax relief up to RM3,000 if you invest with PRS.

RM400
Private Retirement Scheme (PRS): RM250
StashAway: RM50
HelloGold: RM50
Raiz: RM50
With RM400, you are able to diversify your investment by investing in multiple platforms. With that, you are able to invest in commodities, equities (local & international) & also enjoy income tax relief.

RM500
Private Retirement Scheme (PRS): RM250
StashAway: RM100
HelloGold: RM100
Raiz: RM50
Similar to the RM400 portfolio, I am increasing the budget for international equities & commodities.

Conclusion:

When you start to dive into investing in each investment platform, there will be more choices to pick from on where to invest & what is the investment risk that you are willing to choose. It is pretty straightforward for HelloGold as it is only investing in gold. For PRS, you will need to do your own study on which fund you want to buy. It varies from the geographical area, commodities, equities, bonds or mixture of all. As for StashAway & Raiz, they will be recommending the risk based on the questionnaire upon your registration. The good thing about Raiz is, you will also get to invest your spare change when you spend using your Maybank Debit Card. If you notice, I did not recommend cryptocurrency as part of the recommendation portfolio as I personally do not believe in crypto. That does not mean crypto is bad as some of my friends have made money from investing in crypto. It is just something that I am not keen to invest in as I don’t find any value in it at the moment. If you would like to give it a try, do feel free to try out Luno. What are you waiting for? Start investing & build your retirement portfolio now.
