List Of Side Hustles That I Have Tried

Hello Grasshoppa,

Recently I have engaged in my first Clubhouse session with My Personal Finances where they sharing about How To Grow Your Income. This topic has caught my attention as earning more money is something that interests me. Since I started working, I will always find ways to make more money by doing part-time jobs or even starting my own side business. As of now, I currently work a 9-5 job while having 2 side business & a blog. I even started my own YouTube Channel to try to monetise it so I can earn more income in the long run.

What Are The List Of Side Hustles That I Have Tried?

1. Waiter
I was working as a waiter in clubs and events during my early days to earn extra money.

2. Direct Selling Agent
I have written about this before where I wanted to earn a living while studying. You can read more detail on it here.

3. Blogging
Before starting BBM Blog, I have also tried my hands on blogging on an MMA blog & food review blog. None of them worked out except for BBM where I’ve been blogging since 2018 & it is still going strong after 3 years.

4. Buying & Selling Websites
This is another way that I discovered to make money which I have learnt from reading some books & websites. There are some people that buy & sell websites to earn a living & I was also keen to try it too back then. I used to own few domains called bigandcheap.com, ufcxreebok.com & a couple of others. Currently, I only own theblackbeltmillionaire.com & theblackbelttape.com.

5. MMA Gear Store
I have tried to import some MMA gears to sell when the MMA scene in Malaysia was getting hot but the venture failed miserably when I was unable to solve multiple issues such as cost & other factors.

6. Fiverr Gig
I have tried to offer a few services on Fiverr, I was unable to get a single order for it. You can learn more about How To Earn Money From Fiverr by watching this video.

7. Healthy Food Delivery
It was an idea that sparked when I used to compete in MMA. I launched my healthy food company & the response was great but the preparation & delivery were too exhausting for me to pursue further.

8. Buying Goods From Taobao
I used to buy & sell fake WWE t-shirts from Taobao to sell on Facebook. It went well for a few months until Taobao decided to ban their users from selling fake stuff.

9. Podcast
It was an extension from BBM blog where my mentor & I tried to venture it. Honestly, I felt it was quite bad and I decided to quit after few episodes.

10. YouTube Channel
I just started my new channel recently. Hopefully, I am able to monetise it by having 1000 subscribers & 4000 hours of view time within 1 year period. The topic is mainly on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Personal Finance & Investment. Your subscription & view would be deeply appreciated.

11. Martial Arts Gym
My partner & I launched Kombative Fitness in 2012 & it is still running today. In 2020, we have moved to a better facility & hopefully we can still run it for more years to come.

12. Finger Tape Brand
I have launched Black Belt Tape along with my co-founder in 2019. Currently, our customers are mainly from Singapore & Malaysia. If you are into rock climbing & BJJ, this is the best & most affordable finger tape you can ever purchase. I have previously written on How I Started My E-Commerce Store where I talked about the launching of Black Belt Tape.

Conclusion :

I have tried many side hustles in my life. Some failed & some are doing well. Despite failing, I have learned many lessons along the way which have helped me whenever I start a new venture. The previous 2 blogs have taught me a lot about consistency & content planning. When I started BBM, I knew that I have to write consistently to attract more loyal readers. Fast forward, BBM is 3 years old & I foresee this blog to be my lifelong work. Another lesson that I’ve learned is also to build a business along with my passion. That has led me to start my martial arts gym & along the way, I am trying to solve some other problems within my passion. As for Black Belt Tape, it is about solving the problem of expensive finger tapes in the market & quality issue. It is all about persistence, hard work & passion within that side hustle that can help me succeed.
